NeoFund brings public-benefit organizations a new tool: Merit, a public, non-financial recognition score that makes giving visible and socially desirable. The more people seek Merits — the way they seek credentials or reputation today — the stronger the gift inflows organizations that award Merits can expect. NeoFund takes no share of donations earmarked for your organization.
Eligible partners include charities and other verified nonprofits: civic associations, public-benefit service providers, foundations, non-investment funds, cultural and educational nonprofits, environmental and advocacy NGOs, and similar entities that lawfully receive gifts for the commons.
Merit for every gift — including on your own site
Many nonprofits already collect gifts through their own online payment gateways and similar mechanisms. NeoFund supports that model with software tools that let each confirmed gift earn Merits for the donor, without changing how you receive payments from your donors.
Donors need a Rovas account to hold Merits, but that need not mean extra paperwork: Rovas exposes an API that lets a trusted third party — your organization — create a Rovas account on the donor’s behalf. Rovas also does not require users to disclose their real names, so donors who prefer to stay anonymous can still take part and thereby strengthen the motivation of other contributors.
Pass-through via NeoFund
If you prefer gifts to flow through NeoFund, the default path is simple: the donor pays NeoFund; NeoFund verifies the payment, awards Merits, and forwards funds to your organization without a NeoFund skim.
